The work would involve: Case management; clinical work with individuals, couples, perhaps families; group case consultation; teaching and supervision (dependent on interest and experience). This position is built upon the understanding that we are first—servants who are living out the Great Commandment. As we do this we will then impact and empower others through our vocational skills and giftings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Academic qualifications:
- A recognized bachelor’s degree
- The spouse must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree
- A recognized Master’s Degree within field of counseling or psychology
- Licensed counselor (psychologist, LMHC, LPC) with 3-5 years of clinical experience
- C&MA Polity Course
- Missions Perspective Course
- MLAT Score of 70 or higher
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferably able to conduct pre-marital and marital counseling
- Preferably open to a systems-approach in working with families and children

General Information:
As a CAC, more detailed information of this area will be given in the process of application and appointment. It is a land of many needs and opportunities.
Work and Living Environment:
This is a rapidly growing city of several million people. Teammates live in apartments within neighboring areas of each other and the office. Travel is by subway, bus, taxi, motor scooters, or bikes. Grocery shopping is conveniently located to location of residence. The work environment is a shared office space with other counselors and staff.
Status of Christian Witness:
As a CAC clear statistics are not available. The needs and opportunities are many. There are many unreached groups. More details can be given in the process of application.
Language Expectations:
Language is an essential part of ministry. International workers (IW’s) receive two years of intensive language and cultural study. The goal will be to speak, read, and write the language at a functional level, in order to share the good news of Jesus. Local language skills are desired, but not mandatory. Without language ability the focus of this person’s work would be the expat community.
Health Considerations:
There are average local hospitals. The climate is damp most of the year (hot and humid in the summers; cold and humid in the winter). There is periodic poor air quality, which can agitate asthma.
Expectations for Spouse:
Spousal roles vary based on what the husband’s/wife’s giftings, training, and needs of the team. It is expected that both spouses will be meaningfully involved in meeting ministry objectives, depending on the nature of family roles, children, etc.
Children’s Educational Plan and Options:
There are 3 international schools in the city, a variety of bilingual preschools, and an active group of homeschooling parents.
